Bianca Ailin Giménez

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I grew up with an immense curiosity for different cultures and languages. Every time I met someone who spoke another language, I couldn't help but want to learn more. As a teenager, I dedicated myself to studying English, French, Portuguese and German, promising to “always be learning a foreign language.” This passion led me to pursue a degree in Translation, after which I would become a magician of words. After five years of study, I graduated in 2022 and moved to France, where I now work as a freelance English-Spanish translator. Living surrounded by languages and making a living through words is a dream come true.

My name, Bianca Aliin Giménez, reflects Argentina’s rich cultural heritage: My Italian first name, Bianca (meaning "white"), echoes the Italian heritage prevalent in Buenos Aires. My Mapuche middle name, Ailin, meaning "crystal clear, transparent," honors the native inhabitants of South America. And my Spanish surname, Giménez, reflects the roots of many Latin Americans.

My Journey into Video Game Localization

I’ve always been a gamer, even if I didn't realise it at first. From playing all The Sims Franchise (we all know Sims 2 will always be the best Sims), to exploring arcade emulators and popular PlayStation, Wii, and PC games, gaming has been a constant in my life. Technology and video games were always there, but I didn't know they could be part of my career until 2021, when I joined my first LocJam. I localized a video game in just two days with a group of amazing people! That's when we founded Translators' Tale Team, a spectacular localization collective. Since then, I’ve taken numerous video game localization courses and worked on a variety of small indie game projects. In 2023, I joined Tencent Games as an in-house expert. By 2024, I began collaborating with several localization companies, where I was entrusted with precious words to translate and proofread. Now, I’m excited to see what 2025 brings and look forward to taking on new exciting projects.
